Come immerse yourself in this year’s Econorun with a uniquely Northwest spin on it. This year everyone is invited to join in a cruise of the world-famous Columbia Gorge. The beautiful blue of the Columbia River backdropped by surrounding cliffs and beautiful views of Mount Hood is an immersive experience. We welcome all Corvair enthusiasts whether you currently have a car or not. Even if you’re not affiliated with a club, we invite you to spend some time with likeminded Corvair fans.
Friday night will be registration and an opportunity for attendees to settle in, socialize and get a good night’s sleep before Saturday.
A cruise for all attendees, with an Econorun competition woven in for the Corvairs, will be the main event on Saturday. There’ll be stops as you cruise through the Columbia gorge. We’ll be spending some time on the grounds of Maryhill Museum of Fine art, at the WAAAM (Western Antique Aeroplane & Automobile Museum) and even a replica of Stonehenge overlooking the mighty Columbia River. Each stop will afford us the opportunity for a “pop up” car show as well as fantastic photo opportunities.
At the end of the cruise there’ll be an evening car show and trunk swap meet. This will include a pizza feed for everyone and a chance to visit. As the evening dark settles in, attendees will have the option to visit one of the nation’s largest public telescopes. If the weather is right, it is a spectacular view.
Sunday morning after everyone has a chance to get breakfast, we’ll have the awards ceremony. There’ll be awards for the Econorun mileage & car show, raffle prizes, 50/50, other fun games and socializing. Everyone should be able to hit the road lunchtime or shortly thereafter.
Our hope is that everyone leaves brimming with Corvair connections and a renewed love of our unique place in the car culture at large.
Specific and detailed Cruise instructions with the rules for all drivers will be given out Saturday morning during the drivers meeting.
